Leaning into the Season

Advent time, sacred time. Does this season call to you? Do you hear it in the lights commanding your attention? Homes are arrayed with color and brightness. Such beauty! Does this time tug at your heart? Recalling for you memories of years past, people past? In the quiet of the snowfall, in the chill of the morning air, memories settle in. How can we lean into this season a bit deeper?

Candle time calls us deeper. It is a place to stop and reflect in the stillness. I invite you to “Light a Candle”. Join the many from around the world who also have lit candles holding their prayer intentions in the light. Gratefulness Candles

It’s All About the Shedding!

Cornsnake2I once had a snake named Cleopatra. She taught me so much about life just by observing her. One day she was below the shavings in her cage and I noticed she wasn’t eating. When she emerged every now and then, her eyes were cloudy. Days went by until one day I saw her shedding her skin. It started from her head and the skin just seemed to fold down. Eventually she got to her tail. It took so long as she moved around to release the last of the skin. Because of the way she moved, I imagine that her new skin felt different on the shavings and she probably had to get used to it again. She had outgrown her skin. If she wouldn’t have shed it, she would have died. Her skin would have suffocated the new growth.

Perhaps it is with us, too. Change slowly comes over us and maybe we back away for while. Then one day we are encouraged to take on the new transformation. Maybe we get in the middle and want to go back, but just like my snake, one can’t put the skin back on. As we emerge with newness it may feel uncomfortable for awhile as we move in familiar places with an unfamiliar transformation. Bit by bit we grow into our newness. And just like my snake, if change doesn’t find us and we embrace it, we, too, seem to die a bit to ourselves as we suffocate our inner spirit.

Are there hurts and pains you are needing to shed? What is holding you back from growing? What changes are you experiencing? What about your life is shedding? How are you caring for yourself in the shed?

A Clearer Reflection

Today the day is bright and sparkling with warmth circling our home. Do you feel it too? Fall is in full swing. Washing windows is common at our house at this time of year. But as I think about doing that my mind reflects on a song called “Wash Your Windows” ” on Trish and Richard Bruxvoort Colligan latest CD “Pilgrims of a New World”. I reflect on what in my life am I washing away that no longer serves me. What am I letting go of? What am I starting over with? What newness am I allowing to stream in? Are you ready to wash your windows?

Connection Blessing

Spider Web

I was walking through the woods awhile back and came across a spider web. I was instantly aware of how patterned and connected it was. Each strand was carefully designed as if by a master artist. The little spider had worked so carefully on this magnificent beauty. It is amazing to consider that our connecting links with other people and animal life is that each of us is dependent on breath and a beating heart to stay alive. Perhaps not an idea we think about too often. I guess there is a question for our consideration here. As we have grown up through the years, who are the people that have passed through our lives on our heart journey? Can we name the blessing they have been in our lives?

Journey Heart – original poem by Susan

Dancing Flame Oil Lamp

Think of it; dug from the earth. How long have you been there buried in eath life? Mud of the ages?

Be aware of your spiritual life. You have been called. You are a mystic traveler.

It matters not the wheel time, turning time, creating time, shaping time, glazing time, firing time.

You have been spun into existence for all the ages.

You are connected to the earth; you have been shaped by the Heart. Sacred.

Do you know your connections? Where you have come from? Why you are here? Where you are going?

You are consecrated.
Namaste!

Welcome to Journey Heart!

This is my little home on the planet. You’ll find thoughts and ideas as I continue on my day journeys. As my attention is captured by life and deeper meanings surface, I will be posting those ideas here for your consideration and reflection. And so welcome to my world.
